We decorated
150
bags!
About our project: After looking for projects for my students to participate in for Earth Day we stumbled upon Earth Day Bags. I thought that this would be perfect although I was weary that I would not be able to find a store with only 3 weeks before earth day. However after contacting the three stores that participated they were very happy to help. Especially Whole Foods because they have programs specifically for community involvement. They loved the project so much that they have already agreed to doing the project next year with the entire school district. My tip is to start this project at least a month to two months before Earth Day. This will allow you to be able to be organized and produce some great bags. Thanks,

About our project: We were thankful that both Ingles in our area gave us bags to decorate. Our 6th-8th grade students decorated the bags and we delivered the bags to stores so that they can hand them out on Earth Day.

We decorated
50
bags!
About our project: Our grocery stores no longer carry paper bags, so we asked the local hardware store. They use paper bags for lots of purchases, including nails. Our Energy Education 4-H team educated a local after school class about recycling and trash, then the kids got a chance to express their thoughts about Earth Day and recycling on the paper bags. We all had a great time!

We decorated
150
bags!
About our project: The Douglas Cherokee After-school programs in Grainger County participated in this project as part of their Earth Day education week. First, children were taught about the history and meaning of Earth Day and then they decorated bags displaying this information. The bags were then returned to Holt's IGA to use on Earth Day. This project was successful in teaching the children about our environment and ways to keep it clean and safe, as well as, raising awareness to community members.
