We decorated 171 bags!

About our project: Our students participate in a program called Teen Outreach Program. As part of this program the students are required to complete twenty hours of community service. When I came across this project, I though it would be a perfect as an in school project to complete. Before decorating the bag themselves, my co-facilitator and I showed the students a video clip about earth day and had them brainstorm ideas using one of the worksheets off this website. When it came time to decorating the bags, they were very creative in their messages and what they drew on the actual bags. We reached out to a local grocery store that the students go to and therefore the students thought it was cool that they might see their bags again. All in all this was a successful project and would be willing to do it again next year.

We decorated 344 bags!

About our project: We had a great time decorating bags! The employees at Hy-Vee were very receptive to the idea, and students were bummed when they didn't get a bag - they were gone already! This was a great service project, and we plan to participate again next year. Thanks!

We decorated 40 bags!

About our project: This was our first time to participate in the "Earth Day Groceries Project". We gathered at our local adopted park to disscuss and learn more about this project. The girls enjoyed decorating each bag in hopes of making a differance in our community and making people aware of our responsiblity to respect our planet. As scouts, it is so very important to us that we do what we can to reserve our country for us and for many generations to come.
