We decorated 400 bags!
About our project: As students at Eglin Elementary School learned about Earth Day, they put their artistic skills to work. The Eglin Commissary provided the school with 400 brown bags to decorate with pictures and Earth Day slogans. These designs were created by students in grades K-4 and returned to the store for customers to receive when shopping on Earth Day, April 22, and the days following. Reminding the community the importance of the 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and taking care of our planet is what the Earth Day Grocery Bag Project is all about.

We decorated 731 bags!
About our project: My daughter, Charlotte, is in kindergarten at Tanglewood Elementary School. Her teacher, Mrs. Prysi, assigned her students a community Earth Day project. Charlotte and I chose to participate in the Earth Day Groceries Project. We went to our local Publix and they graciously let us borrow 800 brown paper bags. The students of Tanglewood truly enjoyed decorating their bag with an Earth Day message. We ended up with 731 decorated bags! What a fun experience! We hope the customers also enjoy their bags and will consider reusing them!

We decorated 80 bags!
About our project: All About Our 2015 Earth Day Project: Assurant Satellite Learning Center First, Third, and Fourth Graders in Miami, Florida celebrate Earth Day for the 14th year with our partner, Norman Brother’s Produce. Students from Mrs. McMillan’s/Miss Michael’s First classes, along with Ms. Mazin’s Third Grade class and Mrs. Cortada’s Fourth Grade class, enjoyed sharing in the 2015 Earth Day Grocery Bag Project. The students decorated approximately 80 bags. The grocery bags are being distributed on Earth Day at Norman Brother’s Produce to help remind people to use paper, not plastic. Our 2015 Earth Day activities include: planting a tree, decorating Norman Brothers Produce grocery bags, and creating inventions out of trash. The students have been discovering new and easy ways to conserve energy and how to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle to keep our Earth GREEN. HAPPY EARTH DAY 2015 from First, Third, and Fourth Graders at Assurant Satellite Learning Center & Norman Brother’s Produce!! 4/22/2015

We decorated 500 bags!
About our project: The Fort Walton Beach Kiwanis Club sponsors many children's organizations to promote its number 1 priority. The Kiwanis Kids organization at Mary Esther Elementary School in Mary Esther Florida pledge is "I promise to serve my neighborhood and my school; I will show respect toward my environment; and I will try to make the world a better place in which to live". As part of that pledge this year, with help from the school Art Teacher, the students decorated paper grocery bags from the local Piggly Wiggly with messages about the environment and recycling. The local Waste Management corporate representatives informed the students on recycling and reuse of many products/trash. This presentation was inspirational and gave the students throughout the school incentive and ideas about what to draw on the bags.
