We decorated 270
bags!
About our project: This year was the first year Washington Elementary School participated in this project and the response was WONDERFUL! Students in grades K - 5 decorated 270 grocery bags, generously supplied by Shoprite of Fair Lawn, with both hand drawn and colored, cut and pasted pictures. To assist in streamlining the project, each bag was labeled with our school name and "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Help us save our Earth". Bags were distributed to each classroom and the project was integrated in to April's lesson plan. Upon completetion, pictures of each class, with their decorated bags, were taken, bags were collected, returned to the store and given to shoppers upon checkout on Earth Day.

We decorated 250
bags!
About our project: Lyncrest School decorated 250 bags for the Grocery Bag Project! This was our school's first year to participate, and the Shop Rite managers were very willing to help us spread the Earth Day message. Students from grades K - 5 designed paper bags with many ideas and positive messages for keeping our Earth clean. This event was covered by our local newspaper, and the students are looking forward to participating in this worthy cause next year!

We decorated 40
bags!
About our project: After much success with this project last year, I decided to do it again. My students loved reading a book about Earth Day, brainstorming ideas to put on the bags and then decorating them while listening to and singing along with a song about the Earth. After this project we created posters to hang around our school to remind students that they should keep our Earth safe and clean as well! This year my class shared its (100, so we only did 40) bags with two other classes!
