We decorated 300 bags!

About our project: We decorated over 300 bags this year. It is the third year we've participated in the project. Our teachers, students, and school like to participate in this project each year as a part of celebrating Earth Day and learning how we can all be good stewards in taking care of our precious Earth. The teachers and students, especially those who have just completed the spring MAP Tests, look forward in doing some fun and creative educational projects like this one outside of the paper and pencil kind. The IGA store has partnered with us each year and have been great. We look forward in doing it again next year. Thanks for a wonderful project for all involved!

We decorated 80 bags!

About our project: Our grade level, four classrooms, decided to do this project as a culminating activity to our Earth science unit. The kids had so much fun researching Earth Day facts on the computer to add to their bags. What a great community project!

We decorated 500 bags!

About our project: Country Mart in Jackson donated 500 grocery bags to West Lane. All classes in the school decorated the bags in Art class. Our Art teacher, Mr. Lorenz, led each class in a discussion about earth day and what type of sayings would send a positive message to our community. The bags were then taken back to Country Mart to be distributed to shoppers.

We decorated 175 bags!

About our project: Earth Day Groceries Project We participated in the Earth Day Groceries Project. First, we watched a video on protecting the Earth. We learned that littering hurts the Earth and causes it to look messy. Recycling, reducing and reusing products help cut down on waste! Next, we decorated paper grocery bags. On the bags we wrote tips for keeping the Earth clean. We drew pictures of the Earth and recycling signs. Last, we learned several things from the project. We learned the importance of recycling and where to get free recycling bins in our city. We started turning off the lights and water when not in use. The Earth Day Groceries Project was a huge success at our school!

We decorated 300 bags!

About our project: This is the third year we have participated with Shop 'N Save. We decorated bags and also included Earth Day facts and environmental facts inside the bags on index cards for the shoppers to read. Hopefully, this will increase community awareness of environmental issues and simple solutions everyone can do at home to help!
