We decorated 40
bags!
About our project: On Take Our Children to Work Day (April 27), Ernst & Young EcoCare, our firmwide environmental initiative, sponsored an Earth Day Bags Activity for the children in our McLean, VA office. EcoCare's National Team Leader spoke to the children about the elements of a successful advertising campaign and what makes an effective poster, showing them samples of EcoCare posters that were created to encourage eco-friendly work habits in the office. The group discussed the importance of graphics, color, short catchy words, etc. and the walls were posted with photos of other children's bags and headlines from the Earthdaybags site to give them ideas. The bags were "donated" by the EcoCare leader, who reuses her own grocery bags. The idea was that the kids would present their bags to their parents, who'll reuse them repeatedly, and be reminded to reduce, reuse and recycle every time they shop. This way the kids are directly influencing the family shopping habits while getting both children and their parents to think more about being eco-friendly.
