We decorated 250 bags!

About our project: With the cooperation of elementary school administrators and teachers, along with land conservation personnel and the local grocery store, this project was put together in under 2 weeks with great success. Not only did participating students smile while they crayoned and markered, shoppers also had fun recognizing the local artwork while in the check-out line. We will definitely be back next year.

We decorated 576 bags!

About our project: The students in our elementary schools learn about our environment and ecosystems at every grade level. The students participate in many earth-centered projects, some of which include: incubating chicken eggs, raising caterpillars which metamorphasize into butterflies, conduct hands-on experiments dealing with soil erosion and the effects of pollution on our water, wildlife and soil. Field trips to wonderful nature preserves like the Buboltz Nature Center and Kettle Moraine Glacier trails give kids a feeling of connection to Wisconsin land and wildlife. What a wonderful opportunity this was for the children to pass on some of their knowledge and caring for our home to the members in our community! I was thrilled with the creativity and caring that went into these bags, teachers and students reflected their own styles in them all.

Area shoppers received a positive message that the students at Edgar Elementary School care about their environment. We thank the Edgar IGA for their continued support in providing the grocery bags used for this project.

We decorated 284 bags!

About our project: Our students really enjoyed decorating the grocery bags. We provided the classrooms with a sample of a decorated bag and also a template of the earth and continents to use when decorating the bags. The art teacher used the grocery bag project in her classroom with some of the classes.
