We decorated 100
bags!
About our project: Waiakea Intermediate School's Ho`olaulima Team of 7th graders in Hilo, Hawaii learned about the environment and decorated 100 brown paper grocery bags for KTA, a local grocery store. The theme that most of the students used was "Malama I Ka `Aina" which means "take care of the land". The students also created a short video clipping to be aired on a local television program called "Living in Paradise" to encourage the community not to litter, to preserve our natural resources, and to recycle. Because of safety reasons, students were to use only crayon or colored pencils to decorate the bags, to wash their hands before they begin and to not touch the inside of the grocery bags. We look forward to doing this activity again next year!
