We decorated 400 bags!

About our project: Students and teachers in the beforeschool and afterschool program at North Sumter Campus Of Discovery, Panola, Alabama made bags with environmental messages for the local Winn Dixie Store #0562, Livingston, Alabama. Jermiah Ward, Manager and Mamie Mack, Assistant Manager, gladly embraced the idea of community participation. They are regular volunteers in the afterschool program. After completing the environmental bags, students were taken on a local scavenger hunt to discover how they could keep the environment clean. Winn Dixie was very accomodating and helpful throughout the project. We plan to make Earth Day an annual event.

We decorated 115 bags!

About our project: I was contacted by one of the teachers at Ridgecrest Elementary in Phenix City to visit the 4th graders and talk about the benefits of trees. Since I was visiting the school on April 20th, I decided to talk about Earth Day as well. I picked up bags before going to the school, had the students decorate the bags after my forestry talk, and then took the bags to Rainbow Foods to be used on Earth Day.

We decorated 16 bags!

About our project: We have been learning about the importance of protecting our environment. During a three week campaign, the students actively participated in activities throughout our community and keeping it clean for the health and pepetuality of the future. Our projects include: trash pick up of liter on school property, planting bulbs, and the grocery bag project. We would like to see our bags viewed online so that the students at Holt Elementary, grades K-5, may see our commitment to keeping our Earth clean.

We decorated 1193 bags!

About our project: This was the first year that the middle school got involved with the Earth Day bag project. The students really enjoyed the time away from the usual school work. The students were given an opportunity to use their creativity and learn something new in the process. It was a big success and the students really loved seeing their work displayed. We plan on doing it next year and making it even better. Thanks for this opportunity to let our students shine.
