We decorated 120
bags!
About our project: The local Winn-Dixie (Harvey) donated the bags to our school. In class, we discussed what was Earth Day, why we celebrate Earth Day and ways to help our planet. The students then came up with designs of their own for the bags. This was a great project!

We decorated 426
bags!
About our project: 37 AmeriCorps members engaged students at seven Calcasieu Parish Schools in the Earthday Bags Project. Over the past school year, AmeriCorps members have been teaching 426 students the qualities of good character. Citizenship was the April topic, which lead into a lesson on recycling and environmental issues. Students identified problems, resources, and needs within our community in regard to environmental protection. Students freely drew and colored slogans they wanted to share with the citizens of Lake Charles.
