We decorated 150
bags!
About our project: Our school sponsored an "Earthday Coloring Contest". Each class was provided with brown bags donated by the neighborhood grocery store. Students were instructed to draw a scene depicting a recycle idea, an Earthday slogan or any positive earth saving idea. A winner was selected for each class. Their name and bag was announced at our school's Monday morning assembly. Each winner received a candy bar. The bags produced were absolutly beautiful. These will be saved to announce the contest for next year. It was a great experience for all of us. Alesa Smitherman Science Curriculum Coordinator

We decorated 350
bags!
About our project: Our local Bruno's supermarket was happy to donate paperbags for our activity. The school's art teacher included the project in his weekly sessions with the kids. During Earth Week, I picked up the bags from the art teacher, hung a poster in the school lobby, and brought the bags back to Bruno's. Kids were very excited about seeing the bags at the checkout. They all wanted to find their bag though!

About our project: The 6th graders at Calloway-Smith Middle School participated for the 4th year to make their community more aware of the environment. Decorating 500 bags this year students also created posters, bumper stickers and collected over 20,000 soda can tabs. These tabs, along with 40,000 tabs collected by the 7th and 8th graders is the largest quantity they've collected in 2 years. The tabs, an estimated 60,000 and counting, will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Mobile, AL. Save the Earth--Our home! Pictures will follow soon.

We decorated 150
bags!
About our project: This is the third year that Lanett Central Elementary Students and Kroger have teamed together to participate in the Earth Day Groceries Project. Students enjoy decorating the bags as they send an important message to members of our community about the importance of taking care of our environment. Kroger will distribute the bags to customers on Tuesday, April 22, to remind them of the significance of the Earth Day celebration. We decorated 150 bags to be used on Earth Day.
