We decorated 700
bags!
About our project: We (the Student Council) wanted to do a project in celebration of Earth Day. I came across the Earth Day Groceries Project while searching for ideas on the internet, and I thought that it sounded like a great idea. We then contacted Hy-Vee, and they donated the bags. Students decorated the bags, and then we delived them back to Hy-Vee the Friday before Earth Day. The students really seemed to like the project, and it didn't require an immense amount of work!

We decorated 307
bags!
About our project: The American forest and Paper Association sent us the bags. Thank You. Super Wal-mart is our business partner and has done wonderful things for us and we made the bags for them to distribute on Earth Day. The first and second graders discussed flower shapes and colors and decorated the bags as flower gardens. The third and fourth graders discussed the shape of trees and their uses and decorated the bags with trees. Fifth graders used a global shape with people, oceans or cities around their globe. All seemed to enjoy the project and the clerks I spoke with were interested in the change in their Earth Day day--exciting paper bags.

We decorated 90
bags!
About our project: My second and third grade Challenge classes completed this project for Earth Day. The students worked very hard, and the bags look great! We are a community school district, so we received bags from all three local grocery stores: Bob & Scotts (Primghar, IA), United Foods (Paullina, IA), and Main Market (Sutherland, IA).

We decorated 161
bags!
About our project: I used this project to tie in with the many activities the classroom teachers were doing on Earth Day. The store whose bags we used was having a Grand Opening over the weekend, so the bags added a great spirit of community.

We decorated 405
bags!
About our project: This is the second year that Harrison Elem. School has participated in the Earth Day Bags Internet Project. We used the project to raise awareness of Earth Day issues. Specifically, recycling and reusing natural resources. In addition to coloring the Earth Day Bags, students used Kid Pix (a kid-friendly paint/draw software program) to generate colorful Earth Day messages and pictures. These were printed out and selected pictures were posted at our sponsoring Hy Vee store.
