We decorated 163
bags!
About our project: This is the second year that Delaware North Parks Services participated in the Groceries project with the local elementary school. The bags were displayed in the store for more than a week and then used on Earth Day when customers purchased groceries. The management of DNPS went to the school prior to Earth Day and presented prizes - 1st and 2nd prizes per grade, and one overall grand prize winner! It was a lot of fun and the students were really proud of their artwork. The environmental messages were cute, informative, and showed that the students really do care about the Earth.

About our project: A fellow teacher in my school district participated in this project last year and she wanted to get more schools in our community involved this year. I was very interested in sharing this project with our K-8th grade student body at Canyon Breeze. The students in my enrichment program visited every classroom on campus. They read the classes a story,(Clifford's Spring Clean-Up or The Lorax)discussed Earth Day, and had each student complete the grocery bag project. Family members also had the opportuntiy to decorate grocery bags at our Family Fun Night. The students in my program were excited about this opportuntiy to reach out to our student body and the community. We had 100% participation on our campus and are looking forward to participating in years to come.
