We decorated 90
bags!
About our project: On the Wednesday before Earth Day we held an Earth Day celebration at the school. The 7th and 8th grade ran the show. The focus was conserving by recycling. They decided on activities they would like the lower grades to participate in and collected all of the reusable materials needed. In the afternoon the children would rotate from station to station doing things that would help the earth in some way. One of the stations was painting the paper bags. We then took the bags to the local market for the weekend. The store owners love to participate in this with us because their bags are more attractive and the children insist on their parents going to the store to buy something hoping to have the groceries put in to their own personal creation.

We decorated 250
bags!
About our project: After contacting our elementary school I then talked to Country Mart who were very happy to "lend" us grocery bags to decorate for Earth Day. I then contacted the art teacher at the school and she very willingly agreed to do this project in her art classes. The students had a great time decorating the grocery bags and hopefully learned a little more about taking care of our earth. The bags were than taken back to Country Mart and used on Earth Day. This project was very simple to do and great fun.

We decorated 250
bags!
About our project: We were working on a unit on recycling, and I came across your website, and thought this would be a fun project for the kids. I contacted our local grocer, and was given 250 bags to decorage. The students were thrilled with this project, and jumped right in and got the bags decorated. Many of my students went to the grocery store on April 22nd so they could get their groceries in the decorated bags. This is a great project, and I plan to use it again next year!

About our project: This is our second year participating in the grocery bag activity. The kids love spreading the word on how important it is to do things to protect our enviornment. Last year we received letters from patrons who appreciated the students' artwork.
