We decorated 44
bags!
About our project: 1999 Was my second year doing the grocery bag project with Winn Dixie. The first year the manager was somewhat hesitant, but when he receive our bags and began to hand them out, he really got a great deal of positive feedback. Then, last year when we brought our bags back to be handed out, a big sign was in the Winn Dixie Window "Celebrate Earth Day With West Hernando Christian School." My children were really excited to be recognized, and they were even more excited that they were letting so many people know about earth day and recycling, saving our earth, etc. Being at a religious school, this activity blended really well with our units on creation and the stewardship of human beings here on earth. Overall this has been a terrific project both years and it just keeps getting better. We can't wait for the project in the year 2000!

We decorated 400
bags!
About our project: Our City sponsors an annual Earth Day event and has for the last ten years. Last year, when I read about the paper bag project I approached the teachers at our elementary, middle and high school. All three schools participated and over 400 bags were decorated and distributed at the local Winn-Dixie. It was a great project for everyone involved and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for the idea.

We decorated 1000
bags!
About our project: We decorated 1000 bags! Our entire school participated in this worthwhile project thanks to you and our business partner Publix. The students decorated in environmental, nature, or recycle themes while learning about community involvement. They were very proud to have their artwork "recycled" back into the community by Publix. We'll definitely do it again next year!
