We decorated 133
bags!
About our project: Thanks for the great project idea! All 133 second graders at Dannelly Elementary School in Montgomery, Alabama enjoyed decorating the bags loaned to us by our friendly neighborhood grocery store, Super Foods. The students were excited that the bags with their slogans and pictures were reused by customers on Earth Day. Second graders also picked up litter, recycled classroom paper, worked in the second grade garden, and sat back after their hard work to enjoy "dirt pudding" made from crushed oreos, chocolate pudding, and gummi worms.

We decorated 40
bags!
About our project: We designed and planted a patio garden outside our classroom. Children & parents donated soil and plants for the garden. Our class will celebrate Earth day in our garden with songs and refreshments. We stressed the reuse & recycle theme of Earth day with the decoration of the grocery bags. We wrote stories involving the Earth Day bags and theme and displayed them in our hallway for the school to see. This was our first time participating in the Earth day bags, we feel it has been a success!

About our project: The third grade participated in this wonderful project last year. This year, I invited each teacher to participate. Almost every teacher chose to have her class participate. The project was fun and the students were able to share what they learned about Earth Day with the community. We look forward to participating again next year.
