Here is a picture of a cashier from Giant Food in Maryland displaying one of  the 360 bags sent from our school. Our school, located in Northeast  Washington, D.C. decorated the bags and included a sticker on each that urged each customer to reuse the bag at least 4 times before discarding it.

Students loved doing the artwork and the grocery store chain was eager to be able to celebrate Earth Day with a relatively easy project.

What a great idea! This was our first year participating. I look forward to spreading the word among other teachers here in the Nation's Capital. Look for an even bigger campaign next year.
